Releasing Through Fire: A Ceremony of Letting Go

![]() | I recently had an energy healing with the lovely Nicole from Rezinate. During our session, I shared that I felt as though I had lived a thousand different lives within this one lifetime. Looking back, there have been so many chapters, challenges and moments that have shaped who I am today. Nicole invited me to take stock of those experiences, explaining that rather than seeing them as burdens, they could become the scaffolding that allows me to better understand and support others on their own healing journeys. That perspective stayed with me. It reminded me that while we cannot change our past, we can choose how it shapes our future. She also shared with me the beautiful practice of conducting a fire ceremony. There was something about the timing that felt perfect. |
Winter is the perfect season to gather around the warmth of a fire. As nature slows down and turns inward, we too are invited to pause, reflect and release what no longer serves us. There is something deeply comforting about sitting beneath a crisp winter sky, watching the flames dance as they transform wood into light and ash. Just as the fire gently consumes what is offered to it, we can choose to let go of old stories, outdated beliefs and emotional burdens, making space for new beginnings as the seasons begin to turn.
Since then, I've experienced the power of this ritual twice - once during our recent Soulhearth Sound Bath Meditation, and again gathered around a friend's bonfire. Both experiences felt incredibly grounding. There is something profoundly symbolic about physically offering your limiting beliefs to the flames and watching them transform into smoke and ash. It becomes a conscious moment of release, allowing you to acknowledge your past while choosing not to carry it forward.
Fire has long been honoured across many cultures as a symbol of transformation, renewal and rebirth. It reminds us that even what has felt heavy, painful or limiting can be transformed into something new. A fire ceremony is a beautiful way to consciously release the beliefs and stories that no longer serve you, while creating space for new intentions to take root.
Step 1: Reflect on Your Journey
Before beginning your ceremony, take a few quiet moments to reflect on the scaffolding of your life. Consider the experiences that have shaped who you are today.
Ask yourself:
What challenges have I faced?
What did these experiences teach me about myself?
What beliefs did I develop in order to protect myself?
Which of these beliefs are no longer serving me?
Often, our greatest challenges unknowingly create limiting beliefs that influence how we move through life.
For example:
Challenge: A relationship where you constantly felt criticised.
Limiting Belief: I'm not good enough. I'll never be accepted for who I am.
While this belief may once have been a form of self-protection, it no longer reflects your truth.
Step 2: Write What You Wish to Release
Fold a piece of paper in half.
On the left-hand side, write down each limiting belief you are ready to let go of.
On the right-hand side, write the belief you wish to call into your life instead.
For example:
Release | Call In |
I am not enough. | I am worthy exactly as I am. |
I have to do everything alone. | I am supported and safe to receive help. |
I am afraid of failure. | I trust myself and embrace new opportunities. |
I don't deserve happiness. | I welcome joy, abundance and love into my life. |
Take your time. Write from your heart. They can be one word or full sentences, there is no right or wrong way to do this.
Step 3: Offer It to the Fire
When you feel ready, safely place your paper into the fire.
As you watch the flames consume the words, imagine the old energy dissolving. There is no need to force or analyse. Simply witness the transformation.
Offer gratitude to the Spirit of Fire for assisting in this release.
You may like to say:
"Thank you, Spirit of Fire, for transforming these limiting beliefs. I release all that no longer serves me and welcome the highest good into my life."
Watch until the paper has completely burned.
Then, with intention and trust, repeat aloud three times:
"And so it is done."
"And so it is done."
"And so it is done."
Take a deep breath.
Feel the spaciousness created within you.
Know that every time we consciously release what no longer belongs, we create room for something greater to emerge. The fire does not simply destroy, it transforms. May you walk forward lighter, clearer and more aligned with the truth of who you are.
